Thanks to a few of my friends on Facebook, I have decided that “Sword Masters” would remained spelled as such, not switched to the one word “Swordmasters.”

Got to Hate that Plot of Convenience

By eugena On September 30th, 2012

From my review of the Puppy Love Film.  Writers, please, just don’t do this:

Save yourself a jaunt down into boredom, and don’t turn this film on. A film done by Hallmark, the company famous for its sappy, predictable, and often times unrealistic plot lines, Puppy Love, does not deviate from the mean. In perhaps the most unrealistic plot line I’ve heard of in 2012, a woman adopts a dog who already belongs to another. That’s right. That’s what a writer like myself calls “a plot of convenience.” What do I mean by this? If you want to get from point A to B in your script or novel, sometimes you force the plot. If I go so far as to call it “a plot of convenience, then I mean it is very unrealistic.

Making Character Progress (September 2012)

By eugena On September 12th, 2012

Well, I am now battling for Rise of the New Masters character development.  These characters have problems.  And when I say problems, they could do with a good ship’s counselor.  But in this time of war, as the Malik and his kingdom have been in, now is not the time to be worrying about mother complexes.  Yeah, a bit disturbing, but it takes all kinds of characters to make a novel work.  I did a lot of outlining for Malik, General 1, General 2, and Nathan.  A lot more to do with Nathan.  Being raised from the dead is, well, traumatic, but wanting to go all out (And who got that Persona reference?  Raise your hands, fans!) on those responsible for your death is understandable for him.  Not to mention it works well on the plot.

And if you have a PS3 (or XBox 360, )I highly recommend picking up Persona 4 Arena.  I will be writing up my review of it in Musings soon.

Happy Birthday The Age of Merrik 2012

By eugena On September 7th, 2012

Another year, another birthday (or anniversary) for The Age of Merrik.  September 7th or Novem 7th in The Age of Merrik timeline terms is also the birthday of Merrik of Tyera.  I look forward to writing more in the series and the prequel that serves as background for the Sword Masters.  The sequel should be a challenge to weave everyone together, especially the cast of Sethane, Malik’s kingdom, I have planned.  Perhaps a great question is, if you are already Malik’s General, what is to stop you from taking his head and becoming the new king?

Fan Favorites:

Miriam and John have always been a fan favorite.  Areya and Miriam will be in this one, plus the new addition, Miriam and John’s child.
